Reading
Using the Reader's Workshop model, students will read a variety of fiction and nonfiction text, including books, newspapers and magazine articles, short stories, poems and internet resources. Our goal is to develop strategic readers who think while they read, ask questions, make inferences, and visualize the information. Using a balanced literacy approach, students will participate in interactive read alouds and book club discussions, as well as independent reading from "just right" texts. Students are also expected to read thirty minutes nightly and record their progress in their log.
